San Mar Children’s Home has been holding The Greatest Bicycle Tour of the Historic C&O Canal (TGBT) since 1989 as an annual fund raiser. The 186 mile ride along the C&O Canal from Cumberland, MD, to Georgetown in the District of Columbia has become increasingly popular, drawing riders from throughout the region.
Launched in 2012, the previous website had become dated, difficult to use, and no longer effectively represented the popularity of the event or professionalism of the San Mar organization. The site also lacked the tools necessary to effectively promote the race in today’s social media environment and did not adapt for use on the many mobile devices being used by visitors today.
DatAchieve provided San Mar with a new logo, an attractive, easy to maintain website that better reflects the organization and the event, and the social media tools necessary to promote San Mar Children’s Home to the community. The new site includes rider registration and sponsorship, integration of social media sharing and publishing tools, complete content management, and a mobile-responsive design accessible to the growing number of mobile visitors.
