Washington County Health Department (WCHD) is part of the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), as well as an agency of Washington County government. For over eighty years the Washington County Health Department (WCHD) has been providing affordable healthcare services and social support services to individuals and families of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds.
The Washington County Health Department website was built on a proprietary platform and hosted on a municipal government server. With limited functionality and a dated design, the site was difficult for Health Department staff to manage and hard for visitors to find within the larger structure of the county website. As the Internet has become a primary means for patients and referring physicians to find medical providers, the Washington County Health Department needed a way to provide the public with healthcare information and make people more aware of its many services.
DatAchieve Digital provided the Health Department with an attractive new website with navigation that quickly guides a visitor to one of the many health services offered by the organization. The new site includes the integration of social media sharing and publishing tools, complete content management, a mobile-responsive layout, and language translation tools. DatAchieve also worked with the Health Department to develop the Washington County Maryland Pathfinder website. Pathfinder is designed to encourage community members and visitors to take advantage of the many hiking, biking, boating, and outdoor activities available in Washington County, Maryland.
Launched shortly before the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic, the new Washington County Health Service has become a much-needed source of information and resources during a time of crisis.
